Gigs, gigs and Giggs!

Three gigs - Good Vibrations Festival 2007, Roger Waters performing Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety and Ryan Giggs scoring the goal that saw Manchester United win its Champions League match over French side Lille.
Roger Waters was amazing - the closest I'll ever get to seeing Pink Floyd in the flesh and my god it was fantastic...
I was blown away.
Good Vibrations was up there with one of my most perfect festivals ever. The people, the atmosphere and the music were spot on. I saw Rahzel, JS-One, Jurassic 5 and Beastie Boys all perform extremely well - the day was perfect.
And infally, Giggs you are a champion. After taking a free goal kick before the keeper was ready (sorry boys, you should've been watching the umpire) he scored the winner in Manchester's Champion League game - and I smell a winner coming the Red Devils way this year.....
Stay tuned!!

How big?

Three words.
Big. Day. Out.
Yes, that's right, the one day of the year when thousands (40,000, to be precise) of Perth music lovers get together for a day of fantastic music, great atmosphere and (mostly) cool people.
My surprise band on the day was The Vines. I myself am not a massive Vines fan, however their live performance blew me away. Lead singer Craig Nichols' prolonged screams were awe-inspiring. The band was tight and a hell of a lot heavier than i thought they'd be - in all, they blew me away.
A couple of bands i didn't expect to see but ended up seeing anyway were Sleepy Jackson - as expected, entertaining and musically luscious at the same time - and a Liverpudlian by the name of John Cooper Clarke. John Copper Clarke graced the stage at the Lilyworld and proceeded to entertain the crowd with a variety of poems, limericks and one-liners. He had a loud Jet (playing on the nearby main stage) to compete with and did quite well, but lost me when he forgot the words to one of his poems and started to read them from a file he had nearby. Other than that, it was a nice diversion from the music.
As for the rest, well, Tool, Muse and The Killers were absolutely brilliant. To have a blockbuster lineup including those three bands and see them all within a few hours of each other was unreal. They were all amazing, but Muse was by far my favourite. The Killers played an absolute blockbuster of a set and Tool were as tight as a (insert inappropriate metaphor here).
They could do no wrong.
All in all, a great day was had by all and now it's only 363 days to the next one... oh... :(

Sir Alex and the Red Devils

Last night, English Premier League leaders Manchester United stamped their authority over the ladder with a convincing 4 - 0 win over rock bottom Watford.
Now, to most, this would seem like a fairly easy game - it was - however United are just one of those teams that are a pleasure to watch.
When they're on fire, they're on fire - and there's nothing better than watching a team almost magical in its passing display.
Wayne Rooney, who, after what seemes like such a long time is really starting to get on top of his game again (4 goals in 3 games), scored the final goal after Ronaldo and Larsson plugged one in each.
Watford really buried themselves after an own goal followed Ronaldo's free kick, but a 4 - 0 win is to be expected from a championship team at the top of the table.
Come on United!!
